Buying satay skewers and bamboo disposables as a food business: certificates, sizes, MOQ

By Dimitri Vroman

Bamboo satay skewers and disposables seem like a simple purchase, but the details determine whether a delivery goes smoothly: certification, sizing and the right minimum order quantity.

In terms of certification, the European market requires at least compliance with EU 1935/2004 (materials in contact with food), supplemented by LFGB, REACH and FSC for sustainable forest management. IMFACO supplies this documentation as standard for every item.

Sizing depends on the application: round satay skewers of 15 to 40 cm for classic use, paddle skewers with a flat tip to prevent the meat from turning, and shorter teppanyaki and yakitori variants for specific preparations.

In terms of volume, IMFACO typically starts at one box of 10,000 pieces, with economies of scale for larger orders per ten thousand or full pallets. For personalised items such as marinade brushes, a separate minimum order quantity applies, to be agreed per project.

Anyone supplying European retailers from 2026 must also take the PPWR packaging regulation (EU 2025/40) into account — IMFACO proactively keeps this documentation in order.
